Little Details leave a Memorable Impression

I received some letters over the past little while, and have been looking forward to taking a moment to craft a letter back in response.
These letters have reminded me how nice it is to be in touch - and what a lovely feeling getting and sending a letter can give. Here in Korea, I wasn't able to send mail overseas during the pandemic, but it's so nice that the post has opened up again. In fact, I just sent a package back home to my parents and was impressed at the quick delivery time!
Sending a handwritten letter isn't just for friends and family - it can really help make a memorable impression on others, too! Once, I sent such a letter to influence a director to admit my daughter to their nature program. I considered my points carefully to show her that we held similar nature-based values. Then, I found out the most appropriate way to word it in language the director would appreciate. After that, I wrote it out in pen on paper for that rustic, natural feeling. Needless to say, she was impressed. For years afterwards, that director would mention how she was so touched to receive such communication. She was impressed that in this world of high speed connections, I’d actually taken the time to mail her a handwritten letter.

Do you struggle trying to put your thoughts down on paper? Sometimes I do. It takes a moment - sometimes more than a moment - to get the ball rolling. Why not start like I do, with something small at first? A simple greeting, genuine caring, and perhaps some comments on similar interests. It's also fun to add some pretty things; such as, cute stickers or trinkets and maybe a teabag or coffee pouch so the recipient can enjoy the full experience while reading.
This morning, I woke up to a text message from some old friends about getting back in touch more often via snail mail - and I'm all for it! I think I'll get right down to it and put pen to paper today!
Happy Lettering!
